Duties and Powers of Mayor:
The mayor of a type A general law municipality has the following duties and powers: 

1. Serve as the municipality's chief executive officer and cause all laws and ordinances to be enforced. 
2. Serve as the presiding officer at all city council meetings, and except in elections, vote only in case of a tie. (The city council may provide by ordinance for the election or appointment of certain officers, such as municipal clerk.)
3. Inspect the conduct of all subordinate officers in the municipal government, and cause all negligence, carelessness, and other violations of duty not to be prosecuted. 
4. Call special city council meetings whenever the mayor deems it necessary or upon the application of three council members.
5. Administers oath of office.
