Animal Control is staffed by one full-time Animal Control Officer.

The Animal Control Division is responsible for:
- enforcing all City of San Diego ordinances pertaining to the regulation and possession of all domesticated animals within the City of San Diego
- remove all injured animals and carcasses from City of San Diego streets and roadways.
Staff
Animal Control is staffed by one full-time Animal Control Officer.
These officers:
- pick up stray animals
- often work with detaining vicious animals
- bathe shelter animals weekly
- de-flea and deworm animals at the shelter
- feed and care for animals
